Duhirwe Rushemeza is a Rwandan born artist currently residing in New York.  Duhirwe came to the United States as a young girl after having lived in Kigali, Rwanda and Bonn, Germany with her family. The Rushemeza family left the United States when Duhirwe was a young teenager to live in Côte d’Ivoire before moving to Rome, Italy; they now reside between Montreal and Harare, Zimbabwe.

Duhirwe received her Bachelors degree in Art and took pre-Architecture at Spelman College. She had the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy and completed an intense summer program in Architecture at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. She recently finished her Masters program at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
